Joining me this week is the legendary Dr. Bill Wathen. Bill has served in just about every possible position within the Texas and American Dental Association during his career. He practiced for 35 years, before retiring from active private practice in 2006. Currently, he is an\u00a0associate professor in the Department of General Dentistry at Texas A & M, Baylor College of Dentistry.<\/p>\n

Bill has won numerous awards over his long and industrious career. His awards include the President\u2019s Award from the Texas Dental Association, the Texas Dentist of the Year Award from the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Distinguished Service Award from the Ft. Worth District Dental Society, followed by election into its Fall of Fame.<\/p>\n

In 1987, Bill was elected as Editor in Chief of the American Dental Association. Soon after, he was offered a position of the Director of Continuing Education at Baylor College of Dentistry. While at Baylor, he created and implemented a comprehensive patient-centered, hands-on series of clinical courses. He has been the Associate Dean for Continuing Education, Alumni Affairs and Intuitional Development, and the Associate Dean for the Center of Professional Development. Bill briefly left Baylor for two years to develop what is now the ADA\u2019s CE Online, before returning to teaching.<\/p>\n

Bill joins us today to talk about his recent project, a course titled \u201cDental Crossroads: Secrets of Success in Dental Practice\u201d. This course is offered to all of the dental students at Baylor College, to those seeking continuing education, and as a free course available to all without credit. Listen in to learn how Bill is striving to teach all dentists, new and old, the psychosocial aspects of dental practice that will help them build powerful doctor-patient relationships.<\/p>\n
